I got my wife the small CC pick which is all metal. She didn't like the lack of grip on the metal handle so I went to a sporting shop and got a tennis racket grip and fitted it. Now the wife loves it.

I thought the price of some picks was a bit over the top so we made this out of some bits laying around..works great and the wings really clean out the hole better than the others..Wife,s happy.nice and light..

The small CC Pick is easy to carry & cheap, has a steel handle not wood. Great for smaller holes, or there is the version with a wider winged type end on it for dragging dirt out of hole easier but it costs a bit more.

I thought they all had wood handles. At least mine does. And the photos on the site are all wooden handled jobs. I certainly would have liked the steel handle. I can see the day coming when it's going to snap.

I got the one with the wide blade. Recommended.

Hi Sunrise Boy be careful ,of a pick with a steel handle..These new coils and machines are getting very sensitive ,and metal too close can effect them..Have changed to carry pick tucked into back of belt with the new Coiltek..Cheers..

Yes, I carry mine in a holder on the belt also.

I don't mean on my side.. I mean around the back of me.. as far away from the coil I can get.over my backside..

Anyone know where I can get a good pick, tried ones small ones from Bunnings but it broke, just cast Iron. But I don't want to pay a fortune for one, like some i've seen from some prospecting supplies. Something with good steel hardened steel and a good hardwood handle. Any pictures and advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Len

Is this the bunnings one you broke? I wasn't expecting much for $10 but it's still doing an alright job

Sorry I can't recommend any high end ones

Hi Len
The pick i use was made by a good friend of mine.
He used some 10mm steal plate.
it is 450 long maybe 120 mm wide at
front tapering back to the thinner pick
end welded a 60 mm peace of pipe in middle cut back handle from long handle
shovel to 800-900mm put in pipe drilled hole in handle & 60mm pipe put bolt through leave alittle flop makes replacing handle very easy .
if don't have tools to make it .
not sure think about $ 60-70 on flea bay.
