Thanks for your reply. I will have a look into the Norton Goldfield and see who is in charge of the operation out there and attempt to get permission.

In relation to Rockhampton I already did some research into this and found an old map where Gold Diggings are marked just north of Canoona near the Fitzroy River but my feeling is that this area will also be owned by someone. I might have to drive out there and try to make contact.

The mine shafts at Mount Larcom I had no idea about. Do you know where those shafts are located? I climbed to the summit once and could not see any signs of a mine shaft near the walking track. Sounds interesting enough to explore the area.

I lived on the mountain for a year or so.. absolutely beautiful to say the least bit just be careful.. there is more worry about the random shafts.. the place is very sacred
