Bloody shooters and state Forrest, now this is a time when I have a go. I'm not against hunting or game shooting, but I tell you what, here in the Valley there's shooting everywhere. State Forrest? The government are struggling to keep shooters in the Forrest as they prefer shooting around the streets and paddocks for easy kills.
Constantly in the paper about trespassing shooters. We have had several shooting "accidents" out this way too with death as a conclusion.
I think the rules on getting guns are too soft and not enough training before allowed your license. And I don't mean training just on the weapons but training attitude while wielding a rifle or gun.
I've been out on crown goldfields digging away when a full camp bloke came out the bush to tell me he was headed up the road to shoot. To me this meant a couple of kilometer as we were in crown and he wouldn't possibly be shooting at or over the road. After digging a while I moved place and went upstream further to where a aquaduct lies next to a road.
After checking out some quartz I did an about turn to head back down the road and then there he was. Camo-man walking out the bush, but cracking the ***** at me, even started to swear and blame me for his loss of the day and that I shouldn't have been there.
Well sorry mate but I'm a prospector and have a bit of paper that said I'm legally allowed here in this crown turf, how about you? I asked.
More swearing, rude dribbles and disgust came from His mouth until he packed and left in a dust storm.
The whole time he was bearing a decent rifle, full gear camo. But he was not allowed to be shooting there or over the bloody road.
The point behind this story is, he was trying to intimidate me just by his presence of a rifle. I was more thinking of where to smack him in the head with his own rifle if he even attempted it, but you never know out there in the bush.
Hunters here are far from clean too. Skins, bones, organs are dumped on roads, in creeks everywhere. Some put in effort to clean up but not many.
I hate em. I'll prob get shot one day. I've even been shot at for being near ( not on ) a private driveway. Welcome to the Yarra Valley haha
