Hi guys aparently the prophet is closed down.
Has anyone had any luck with the river that runs along rossmore rd?? Or any where near that area?? Thanx

Its all private property around Kilkievan.

The prophet mine hasn't closed down the owner has simply shut the gate to the general public.

He shut the gate because some people were going onto that private property around Kilkievan and illegally digging large holes and not filling them and generally breaking the law.

His neighbours blamed his business for encouraging this sort of activity, totally nothing to do with him and his business. However he has to live there so he obliged his neighbours and shut the gate.

Now no one can get into that area because of the few bad apples who have ruined it for us all.

The prophet mine is going to focus on its landscaping supplies business instead and only do the gold pour and panning for schools and organised tour groups.

I believe you can still go there until the middle of December when the gates get closed for good.

Thanx gcause,
Dont blame the poor fella... blinkin bad apples.
Im sure you can still access the river from the road, that cant be illegal. Can it?
I will keep looking seems im getting lots of practice of that.

Nope all the properties there are all old torrens title so they own the creeks and rivers there. There is very little crown land in that area.

You can look it up on the QLD Globe from dept of mines to see the boundaries of the properties.

Best to stay away from the place now, lots of angry people out there who don't want prospectors / fossickers going on their land. Can't blame them for being angry I would be too if someone went in and dug up my back yard, left a whole heap of rubbish and left the gates open all without permission.

Yep i agree. Stay clear i dont like upsetting people.
I was going to take a picture of all the rubbish i collected last trip had to do 2 trips to get it back lol. Same 2day new spot super fine gold but plenty of it. Thanks again mate cheers. ;)

It's not just fossickers causing dramas for the land owners in the area but rogue deer hunters too. I know 3 land owners there & trespassing has been a problem for them for years. Once again a few not doing the right thing stuffing it up for us all.

Thats funny u say that....but also good to know, permission from land owners is for me the hardest thing to get...
