Hi I have live in the Coffs Region for a while and I would like to waist some time gold prospecting as a weekend warrior. I have no experience and no knowledge but have been able to learn most things that I apply myself to. I am also looking forward to meeting and chatting with persons who may share some skill or expertise with me. I am working but over pension age and I have a young family who would also like to be involved.

I welcome contact from anybody who may wish to chat

Thanks Silver still learning how to use the site
Just click "follow topic" on the threads you want to be able to find again easily Dingo ,.... then just search through "topics I'm following", when you want to find them again, quick and easy when you first start out. ;)

Hi Dingo. I'm also in Coffs and have an interest in treasure hunting. Get in touch if u are interested in catching up. My other interest is fishing. I have time available during the week and weekends. Look forward to hearing from you if you are still "in the field".
Or anybody else in the Coffs area.
No experience at all but looking for a bit of adventure and getting out into the surrounding areas.

To be honest im not exactly sure. There was a main star creek on the map, and a lot of smaller tributary creek leading into it. There was an old bridge made many a year ago, almost totally collapsed now. Had to do sum crazy monouvers to turn around with a heavily laden trailer.
I was only having a sticky just on dark on my through that area.

Mudgee hunter - sounds like a off road bike would be useful to access some spots - if u can carry enough gear. I see that u get fold up detectors that fit into a back pack.
In this area are prospectors using mainly detectors or pans? If you are towing a trailer sounds like you take a lot of gear with you.

Had the family with me on holidays, and made a detour to go have a look.
I will go back there oneday and try it out test panning.

Howdy Dingo, I'm a little North to meet up for a walkabout. We have a lot in common otherwise, judging from your post. Am also new to prospecting and doing it with younger members of the family. As you say, I also get done what I set myself to do. Here on the North side of the neighborhood, we are just coming out of winter. I spent it getting ready for the season. Set up a little lab in the basement... Took some sluiced concentrates my grandson and I collected last fall. I salt the dirt with lead shavings for testing. I don't know how much gold we are going to catch, but I guarantee that we will catch every piece of lead. We are very excited about getting started.

Good luck Dingo
