Don't know the date on the 3p. I haven't prized them apart yet. Oh that's my first 3p too :) Still like the novelty of it. That's the 2nd silver I have found melded to a penny. Is this common? One penny is 193.... 6. oh bastard. :(

I too am surprised at the Florin ID, thought would have come in a bit higher. The pennies also jump around a bit on their ID 's, and not necessarily lower on ID when found deeper, maybe more to do with orientation in the ground. Was also thinking that any junk in proximity of the coin may drag the ID up or down, depending on what it is.

Thanks for all the info, that was interesting to read through, and of course some good finds. :)

A late arvo session in the park. The predecimals still eluding me at this location with a lonely shilling the only one found. Plenty of little brown buggers and a few spendables. The lead wheel weight was below the shilling, pays to always check your hole after retrieving the first item. One of the older bottle tops from a local company was a good 6 inches down in soil like concrete. I considered stopping digging but it rang up such a sweet sound. 78-79 which is in the $1 and $2 coin range. The highlights of the day where my first 925 ring which pinged 89-90 on the At pro. It was very shallow and screamed the high tone so I assumed it was a piece of aluminium or some other modern junk. The other cool find is the silver pendant, also 925. It rang 78-79. I saw the roundness in the hole and thought it was a sixpence.

Another satisfying outing.

Ha ha. I didn't look that closely at the pendant. Quick glance I thought it was the Gemini twins.

Love the pendant ramjet! Looks quite old maybe 1940-1960 what do you think? Id be holding onto that, looks unique.

Those dang aluminium bottlecaps that sound like goldies, I'm sure dryhorrors and myself were in a race the other night to see who could collect the most. The shilling and silver ring were a nice way to finish off the hunt. :)

What do florin's usually come up as ID?
Ive only found one florin and in pinged at 90-91
Edit:85 before digging it but once dug up 4-5 inches below coil 90-91

You think it's that old? I just assumed it was modern. I'll have a look into it. At this point I keep all my finds. Yes even the trash. Got nearly a bucket full. Send it to scrap eventually. I should sort the aluminium as it gets a better price.

I think from memory early to mid 90s. I'll have to record more of my targets to get a better picture of what number = what treasure.

I've got buckets full of metal and trash, when I go to sort it for the scrapos next time I'll post a couple of pickys in my " Todays hunt results " post,.... usually about $40.00 worth of scrap value in it by the time I sort it into its various types and sell it,....problem really lies with the amount of dust mixed in with it on the plastic table that would contain lead oxide and asbestos,.... not to mention old mate likes to take the different looking bits just in case he ever gets around to oxywelding up some nice art,... when he ends up with a ton of brass he'll probably make something beautiful and sell it for a $1,000,000.00,....or brass weight(hahaha),...Mmmmmm. could probably do that myself,....and cut out the middle man(ha) one ton of brass = $5,000=$20,000. Mmmmmmmmm.
