....... all understood.

Seems to me you need more consistent flow thru the sluice also I'm not a fan of the BUNNINGS Mat 'cos i found like you it didn't clear out efficiently, the channels are shallow, ribs are flat topped and close spaced so i ditched it for the CLARK Rubber ribbed mat (see photo) and the performance difference is significant at my 9 litres per minute flow rate.

ah I see, I was thinking that the v-mat from bunnings is different to what your using and thanks heaps for confirming mate(no clark rubber in albury or wadonga for some strange reason)

should I put the desert fox order on hold till I do this still you think?

Well i know what the cheaper option is....however the wheel machines appear to do a pretty amazing job. Its hard to say without a sample going through as they are some pesky sands you have there Scott.

Nice idea ......
Could you please give me a breakdown of how you built it eg: what materials and their lengths and have you put it all in a White pvc pipe what Dia.. is the pipe. It really does look like a great idea to help break down the sheer amount of cons you end up with at the end of the day.
Cheers Paul

Yes, certainly. I'll pull something together and post in the DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) PROJECTS section, give me a few days.

G'Day All

the white sand is zircon and perhaps some ilmenite. Ilmenite is weakly magnetic. Really the only way to get rid of the stuff is to patiently sit down over a tub of water and one of those small finishing pans, a tea spoon, a radio, a good chair and a cold beer to several and just go through you cons a teaspoon at a time. Its a great way to have a nice couple of hours in the sun on a weekend when you can't go bush. You can daydream about that next spot. the only stuff I have had no end of troble with is the tin and garnets from Eldorado.
