I wasn't serious about the 320 , would make things a lot easier but .

Off to one side of the big flood rock is where all the water flows at normal river flow, might have to get the snorkle on and go for a look.

I know there is a cave under the big rock , my dog went for a swim one day , went under the rock and came up about 5 meters away from under another rock .

plenty of gold along the ophir rd...you just got to know where to look!
Around lewis ponds there hundreds of shafts tunnels and diggings in the hills admittedly they were predominantly base metal workings but gold was still one from them
good gold exists around lower lewis ponds area too
plenty of saddle reef deposits acroosacross that country side
by creek do you mean macquarie river or lewis ponds creek ???
The gold kicks in in that area once you get off the bathurst granite out towards white rocks/devils marbles area then its devonian sediments with juicy quartz blows etc
