Hi guys over past 8months or so gympie council has been upgrading the deep creek fossicking area they had an open day today. There going to build toilets, bbq and sheltered tables. This will hopfully encorage more use. This area is also going to be shared by mountain bikers, fishing and the all important family bbq and swimming area. I love the concept of it! But just a heads up dont eat the fish and dont swim in there!!!
I have pulled out alot of mercury and old glass bottles not to mention the old iron sleepers, shackles, nails, wire.......ect.
I was talking with a council member (suit n tie) down there he was so inthrawled by the changes i couldnt pop his bubble not on open day they were trying to get me to help plant trees? Sorry i collect rubbish n mercury and a little bit of gold...lol not trees.
So i started going around checking the holes they dug for the trees they all laugh i toldem we go halves 100 holes later cha-ching.... quarts rock with specked vein nice!! Got to hot for my son plus he could smell the sausage sizzle and i need a beer.. :D

Top story and good to see a council making it easier to get out and enjoy our country and not hide us from it.

Next time I com home to brissy I will drag my old boy up there and check it out. He says there is no colour left but I just think he does not try hard enough

G'Day Yobskin

That is an excellent find = well spotted. Don't crush it up, its an excellent speciment and good luck finding some more. Where there is one there will be others. How far is it from any known reef? it may be a new find.

Thanx swright,
There are three old mines/claims in a 100m radius that were closed by 1912 flooding or by war never returned .
Half a click south there were two mines nestled on the hill.
Most of there mulluck heaps were piled to the east.
The northern face is bedrock with quartz veins (mt pleasant) ever herd of the Curtis nugget. Well that was only stones through away :D 2012 we got a 100 year flood. Most gold has come from crushers very fine but most pces are still quite sharp. Im not a rock crusher yet still loving the natural look it has. Grabed another pocket full today big storm rolling in hahaha
