Hi everyone :)

My name is Chris and I'm 27.

I grew up in Drake NSW, a place that a lot of you would be familiar with. I lived in Drake for six years throughout my primary school years and attended the small school there, 38 kids in total.

Growing up in Drake I have a fondness for all minerals, one that I have decided to again try and find. I grew up on a 200 acre property where white quartz and amethyst could be found with ease; old pennies and Chinese coins could be found in the dirt on the school grounds; a range of crystals could be found 30 minutes away and petrified wood could be found on my school teachers property.

Life was easy back then. Dad travelled out from the Gold Coast on the weekends to work on the property, we had no electricity, only a generator and 6 solar panels. Weekends were filled with motorbike riding, fishing, swimming, looking for rocks and collecting old bottles (all of which were smashed when, to my horror a 6 foot python slithered from our ceiling and knocked my collection from the wall, smashing almost all of them).

I ended up moving to Murwillumbah with my parents for high school, then to the Gold Coast, Brisbane and now Melbourne.

Growing up and experiencing Drake and the surrounding area the way I did engraved the essence and beauty of the land into me and I'm keen on getting out there to run a detector over the places I visited when I was younger.

Drake has such a rich history and when I get out there I'll be sure to bring you all along for the journey.

Thanks for your time and if you have any advice for a beginner's gold detector please feel free to give me a shout. Now, back to searching the forum for answers to all my nooby questions!

Chris.

What brand magic wand are you swinging?

Hi mate

Sorry it took so long to get back on here, thanks for your reply.

At the moment I'm doing some research and looking for an entry level gold finding stick.
