Hello all. I am an old dirt scratcher from when I was a kid at a place called Tingha in NSW, where, in those times, sapphire was worth nothing and could be picked up off the top of the ground - in fact, we used to shoot them out of our shanghi's as a lot of them were as big as marble 'blobs' - remember them? I also remember being able to seive a pan full of wash and come up with garnet the size of marbles and bigger and put them back because that wasn't what I was looking for.... those days are long gone, and I
now live in Victoria, near Shepparton, and am retired with a lot of spare time on my hands. The fossick bug bit me hard in a vital area it seems, and I find myself looking about for little digs that might yield color of some description. I'm still active and agile and would like to meet people with similar interests in the same region (or not) and have some time to go scratching - you don't need to be an old bugger like me, just excited about finding colored rocks (or the yellow stuff).
Anyhow, enjoy yourselves no matter what it is you are doing.
Get in touch if you feel inclined. I think my email address is visible to you? If not, send me yours and I'll reply.
