Hill End would be a good place to visit , only its a little bit cold this time of year.
BalmainBob is there at the moment, maybe you can send him a PM before you head that way.
We found our first 0.4 gram specimen there last July using a friends sdc near the old cemetery
off Abbotts Road & Tambaroora road Tambaroora another guy staying at the village camp ground using a gpx 5000 excitedly found some nice nuggets in the same area as will.. This guy definitely had gold fever..

In qld particually to find gold yust look at a map or overlay to find the major fault lines . Largest one runs from the east coast nearly to theN T border via cloncurry. This includes the Palmer goldfields and many other well known spots Many of these areas have not been explored when u get to the far
N W of the state. BUT DONT GO TOO REMOTE UNLESS U ARE WELL SET UP AND HAVE A SECOND 4X4 TRAVELLING WIITH U .
JAMIE WILINSON ( geochemist ) hasfound the water in a faut line turns instanly to steam when a earthquake occurs which forces silica ( which makes mineral quarts )and gold out and onto the surrounding ground and he disputes the age old belief that most gold comes from volcanoes.
