Thanks Ryan that is so true, I have a LOT more respect for people who have started a business and done it from scratch, let alone just running a business. Setting up every thing is a huge task, but do it right the first time (hopefully). The goals and rewards are a very important part of life in general and yes it is important to acknowledge these.

I said to the boss today that for the first time in a long time, I feel happy, not just happy but like a huge load has been lifted. I don't have a feeling in the pit of my stomach everyday because I don't want to go to work. While realising that there is a long road ahead, I wanted to share this with her and let her know that our decisions is a good decision and what ever happens. This was the right decision at the time for us as a family.

One thing I have done is penciled in a trip away, so around April I can get out the bush and prospect for a few days and reflect a bit as well.

Take care everyone

Westaus :)

Good call. I know myself that 16 hr days 7 days a week even for yourself will quickly put those closest to you way down the priority order. Once a month can be a you day, no business, turn off the phone, turn off the brain and just be you. As soon as that came into my routine I became human again. Whatever you do for yourself being the nature of trying to succeed, you will always have something more to do. Success is measured in many ways. Having someone away from the inner circle to download on is good, you just end up driving those around you nuts otherwise. I'm no expert mate not by a long shot these are just a couple of tips, it's hard to be considered when things become relentless.

Hi Westaus,

Good luck mate, I wish you every success. Like some of the boys have said, it's very important to set aside some "You time", I know very well how your own business can take over your life, I had over 13 years of 24/7 long days and after hour callouts, so once a year in winter the family and I would pack up and turn off the phones for 2 weeks and camp at the QLD gem fields digging sapphires. In the later years it got easier to do this as I had several good employees that I could rely on to keep things running smooth.

Now I follow "You work to live, not live to work" mentality. :D

Cheers

Westaus Hats off to anyone who "steps " into the unknown . Adventure, that's what it's all about, much like "wonder what's over that hill ?" Whatever you do if you do it with enthusiasm ,believe in it you'll do it .
"Better to die on your feet than live on your knees " I first heard that phrase in a Jonny Cougar song I think ,it's a ripper.
