f**cking chinese. That is one of our biggest sayings when we buy tools. they look the same, but dont work. sorry about the language, but i have been saying that for years and cant stop. have bought many inferior tools and knock offs. and they always dont work. I just wanted to answer the question about battery life. I am a sparky by trade and have my share of battery operated tools. have a total of 21 lithium ion batteries for my makita kit, and out of that, seven of them are not working. i can also say not one of these 21 batteries has been charged over 50 times yet.
even with older type batteries, i would never of got more than a hundred charges out of them, and by that time you would be down to 20 or 30 % of original charged output.
Also after about 20 charges life starts to get shorter.
ways to prolong life of battery ---
never charge a hot battery.
never totally discharge battery
heat is a batteries enemy.

And i am now a proud owner, of a second hand, 6 week old ML5000 came with 3 coils, the gps, rooster booster, the exta padded harness, and other gear. for $5550 receipts with it were close to $7500. finding gold now is the only thing that will make me even happier. I HAVE GOLD FEVER YEE HAA!!!!

Thanks Mick, yeah I have put in many many hour since I got my 5000 in June/July last year- 8-10 hr days. I was living up in Emerald at the time so had good access to the fields in Clermont, now that I'm on the Sunshine Coast I am slowly getting my bearings on the few areas that we have here- means I have to do far more research & planning to locate likely spots, rather than the vast areas that is Clermont. I was a bit spoilt up there I think......
