Hi guys I'm new to all this from the northside of Brisbane looking to get into as a hobby can anyone recommend a dectector for a newbie and if there are any spots around Brisbane that would be worth a visit thanks

Hay mate, it depends on you budget?
$200-$1000s
for my money i would go for one of the new GARRETTs looking at around $1000-$2000 if you shop around online,do some research on Youtube on the difference between MINELAB and GARRETT.
Thats just my opinion.
But look at WAL and LIZ.
He goes for the the minelab, but pretty hexy at $5000+.
Anyway good luck to you,and hope you find some biggins :)

A great entry level detector to look at is the
Minelab SD2100.
Minimal settings and very little to learn.
Its a personal preference of course but you shouldnt
Pay more than $1500.
Research QLD gold fields and your away :)
Oh, i own a 2100 and its paid for its self already

KoD

If buying off ebay or gumtree or the likes be aware there are a heap of Chinese fakes on the market.
Do your research and if it seems too good to be true it most probably is.

Thanks guys does anybody go fossicking on the beach would the detectors use suggested be suitable for that aswell?
