Hi I recently move to captains flat NSW and I'm interested in doing a little hobby fossicking while bush walking.
I'm not sure what type of land zone the bush is along the Molongalo river is and what type of permit I need.

Any info would be great.IUYTREWQ`+6dsa

Hi and you are now on a very steep learning curve.
OK.
You are in a hot spot for prospecting and Fossicking
and Thank You for asking.

Start off with Six Maps.
https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/

That will give you an idea where the boundaries and
such are located.

Have a good look at the area you are looking to have
a go at.

There are quite a few in's and out's along the river so
be carefull.

I could fill a book quite easily but here is a start for you.

Above all, Enjoy yourself and family. It is a fascinating enjoyable
past time.

I worked out the IUYTREWQ . It is the reverse qwertyui on the keyboard. Still got me thinking on the other one.

DSA is backwards on the keyboard .too.

Unreal, we've had camo coils and now we need to crack the enigma code just to read a post.

Here's some Morse Code for you

--- .... -- -.-- --. --- -.. - .... .. ... .. ... .- .-.. .-.. --. . - - .. -. --. ... --- -.-. --- -- .--. .-.. .. -.-. .- - . -.. --. ..- -.-- ...

Ok. The 6 is six keys across from the + key on the keyboard and all letters and digits are in reverse. The six is roughly in the middle of the top row , but the other numbers are all to the left . My Dad is fluent in morse code from his army days . Hope you said something nice in that morse code deepseeker ?

I can answer that one,
Not really. LOL

It is part of the fun and games of prospecting. :)
Research pays dividends.

Always here to help. But you
have to do some things yourself.

I did not want to over load you with info just yet.

Ignore the gold and read the background :playful:

Thanks, Deepseeker.

Now we can get back on track !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I responded to this on the Captains Flat thread. Here is a copy

Hi Jen
There are three types of forested land there. State Forests (including Tallaganda SF) some areas of which can be used for fossicking, National Parks (including Tallaganda NP) where by and large fossicking/prospecting is not allowed although there is a policy on fossicking https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/topi fossicking . The third area is a reserve - and sorry I can't recall restrictions that apply there but you'll come across them on the National Parks and Wildlife internet sites. There is also a reserve and national park to the west.

This link https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/ fossicking leads you to the State Forest policy and also has links to maps which show where fossicking is and is not allowed. You need a permit.

A declared Fossicking District exists south and somewhat to the east of Captains Flat but you'll need to get onto Minview https://minview.geoscience.nsw.gov.au to see the extent. A Fossicking District means you do not need mining company approval to detect on an Exploration Lease.
