Well that didn't help much lol

Mate, if you're buying from Miners Den, you're only going to be looking at Minelab detectors, so the choice is simple:

Hiya JimmyNoClue & welcome to PA.
first up, more info needed, ie, what you are mainly going after?
The 2 machines you mention have different primary purposes.
The GM is a specialist small/fine gold hunter, but will find coins & jewellery (& lots of Aluminium trash)
The EQ is a mainly coins/jewellery/relic hunter, but will find small gold.

DED

Both of the above machines are around $1,250 and will serve you well, but if money is no object, then the SDC2300 (which is a dedicated gold machine), is around $4,000. Since you apparently have never done any detecting, that's a lot to spend without knowing what you're up against, so I'd suggest you hire an SDC for a few days from Miners Den and give it a go on a real gold field - you'll soon understand whether it's a hobby you're going to stick with.

Mainly i would like to get out looking for the huge nuggets lol

In that case, welcome to the most frustrating, unrewarding ,physically demanding, large junk-collecting, specialist areas of the hobby.

Main gear required- Any of the more expensive PI machines, a large coil (the biggest you can swing the better), a big well-made pick, a spud bar, a good Chiropractor, and a supply of pain-killer medication (Panadol will do at a pinch). Oh, and an unlimited supply of patience and perseverance, as well as a perverse pleasure in seeing all the photos of the tiddlers that other people find when they go out, because it means with that huge deep-goldfinding coil that you use, you will inevitably walk over more gold than you will find.

P.S.

Welcome aboard! :)

I have hired detectors from the den a long time ago , unfortunately didn't have much luck but i see it a bit like fishing, i like to go fishing and if i catch a fish it's a bonus. The day wasn't a total loss anyway because i cleaned a lot of junk from the bush.

I wasn't aware they hired out SDC's but now that i do it might be worth a shot.
