Yea that's a good point. Didn't think about that. Would be shattering ( to the jar and your pride) to drop a glass one. Sure is exciting. Was a bit down I guess having been out half a dozen times and not seeing anything. I sort of changes my technique today a little to. So that might of helped.

Haha thanks beagleboy. Brilliant feeling to know I've found some. :) yea I don't think I could hack following her around. Why would you do with the poop. Pan it again? Lol

Haha don't want to experience that ever..! Can't wait to get home and finish the pan I brought home. Hopefully more in it. Oh an the led down lights under the back verandah are good for it :)

Just trust your pan. The gold will always settle in the bottom as long as you are doing it right. Sometimes the gold can float on the surface due to surface tension of the water. When that happens you should be able to see it. Just squirt a bit of the blue liquid that is used for a dishwasher in to your pan and that should fix it. Panning is not hard really you just need a little practice. Good luck and keep the pics coming. :)

Cool thanks. I was worried about losing it but after actually finding some today and seeing how it behaives compared to the sand and other heavies it have me insight into how heavy gold is. I think the hardest thing would be getting the right pay diet to start off with not so much the panning of it. Could be wrong though

Good on ya Barney. Look out now there'll be no stopping you. Have you been into the gold shop in Mudgee? http://www.centralwestprospectingsupplies.com.au/ (formerly Nuggets from Downunder).
They will have all the gold vials, snuffer bottles etc. that you will need + lots of other goodies as you get into the hobby more. I have no affiliation with them but they are good to deal with & handy for us in Mudgee too :D

Thank you :) definetly no stopping. Just panned the stuff I brought home ( only about 2 pans worth) and got 4 more relative size flakes. :) I have been in there. Yesterday actually and was talking to them again today. :) we're happy to see me get some colour :) mbasko are you in Mudgee to?

Wow, reading it like tealeaves I can see the guy running to catch all the gold, good on ya Barney91 well done.

Awesome mate, you are on your way. Once you spot the stuff its hard to miss. Wont be long before the shoe is on the other foot and you are posting good finds and making us all jealous!

Gold gold gold. Glorious gold. Went out again today. First pan a peice a good 4 to 5 times everything I found yesterday. In one peice..! Photos coming soon. :) oh and if you can't tell I'm one happy chappy :)

Hi Barney,
I am in the same boat, not much experience and this has been very interesting. At Bathurst at the moment and will be heading the Hill End next week to try my luck. Regards Lucky Five
