Hi all!
Im new here, thanks for having me! :D

Im going out to visit family soon and wondering what i could find around Merredin, WA area? Other than gold..
Or if someone could point me to a website thatll help with what i could find.. Ive had a google but not really found anything helpful so far.

Will be going to bunnings to get some newb tools too.

Thanks! :gemstone:

welcome mate,
I live in the upper great southern not real sure what you will find, one thing you can do is sign up for the mines department tenagraph website and and great resources there of current leaseholds also geograph also shows old mines open and shut and what resource was mined, if your looking into doing this more often look at getting your miners right under 30 bucks for life and tengraph is free.
here are some links that may be of some interest

hope this helps and gets you going

Hello ,my first post here. There are some great camping places NE of Mukinbudin , and around granite outcrop areas around Westonia. Historical gold mining around Bullfinch with many greenstone bedrock areas north and east of Merredin.I farmed around there for many years and recently taken up a bit of walking with a wand. Wish i had done it years earlier.

I still haven't been, since posting this 🤣🥲

But I'm getting closer! I've applied for my Miners Right.
Ive been looking through and leaning how to use TENGRAPH. I THINK I've sussed out a spot to go poke around.
It is a rural bushy "UCL" - So that means all I need is a "miners right', right? UCL means farmers around it also wont own it or care that I'm there?

I'm trying so hard to make sure I'm doing everything right and wont upset anyone 😨

Oh! Also, My partner will be with me but I'm not sure how interested he is.. Does he also need a Miners Right? Even though he is probably just going to be waiting around annoying me? 🫢🤣

If you click on the link below and then on the red button marked "DOWNLOAD PDF" near the bottom of the linked page, you'll eventually get to a freely downloadable copy of Mineral Resources Bulletin 25, Gemstones of Western Australia, all 328 pages of it! More info than you could ever want or need, I'd suspect:

You might do ok in that area relic hunting. I think there were a couple of prospector tracks on the goldfields road back to Kellerberrin and further east. An older local might be able to point you in the right sort of direction
