New to fossicking, Any locations near perth where i may be able to find gems/minerals?

Ive been fossicking for the past couple months but havnt really found much of anything, Are there any locations not too far from perth where i may be able to find gems/minerals?

Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to the perennial 'gems/minerals close to Perth' query, but the local club may be a good place to start:

There’s plenty gems around the Perth hills, obviously if it’s on private property you would need permission, but it’s worth noting most of the Perth is covered by tenements over private property and crown lands.

I work for a drilling company in the the early nintys drilling town water supply and test bores, many of the of salt lakes north of Perth held gems in the samples,on the salt lakes only had to walk toward the sun. We also drilled for the Harvey dam which had gold in the core samples, underwater now though.
