Hi everyone,
Picked up prospecting as a hobby last year. Started off with panning to see if I had the time to make it a regular thing. Didnt want to spend money on a detector if it was only going to sit in the shed.
Ive just recently bought a goldrat sluice which I took out Monday in Yackandandah. Had a few frustrations in finding consistency in that area. A couple of kilometres upstream I had found chunky pieces but no really ultra fine. Where I worked Monday only had ultra fine stuff but nothing bigger. Did so many test pans. Not sure if this was because it has already been worked and the predictable stuff was taken and the reason for chunky but no fine because of old mining diverting the creek.
Really just looking for a bit of local knowledge. Have had success in Yackandandah and reedy creek. But would love to tag along with someone on their next trip and just pick their brain.
Thanks in advance
