Surprisingly easy. It slides out with a good pull, & washes out very easily- simply splashing water up onto the matting washes everything off them. The matting drys very quickly & returning the mats to the sluice is a pretty easy process aswell. Due to the tape (which is what you can see between the mats & the sluice) it just requires you to press the matting back down in place.
