ya it works really well had to make some small adjustments but no that we know that its ok we can varnish it against moisture and dirt.we copied the shape of the old handle ,the hardest part was the holes lol aren't they always .

We thought of that but with the finger guard on the top you really dont need groves. It doesn't slip at all .

no it works well and its made out of red gum so its strong the wood is about 100 years old dont think it will split lol

I always have a can of lanolin about for those jobs where wood is exposed to the elements. Unlike varnish in soaks in and cannot flake of. If you continue to coat it you can get it up to a high gloss but just a couple of coats over a few weeks will look after it for years.

Think it will need to be sealed as it shows all the finger prints will see over the next few weeks and we will decied then i think ?and not with ky lol dont think he would be happy about that lol
