Hi everybody
Got myself a Garrett AT Gold a few months back, so far no nuggets but at Watts Gully (surprisingly) I found a belt buckle at 8 inches depth that was buried with bottles, that they stopped making in 1870 !
Obviously there is still a chance of a find in that area ? ( will resize pic and post from pc later :( )
Cheers Steve

G'day Steve,

welcome to the forum and great news re your finds at Watts Gully. I thought the area was worked out.

Have a Club trip to the Torrens River Birdwood tomorrow - If the weather is like today will be a good day for a pan.

No there is still a bit to find at Watts Gully, just not gold, lol
Yesterday I found the old sledge hammer and pick heads about 50 mtrs from where the buckle and bottles were, they have the
mounting wedges as well but they are rust swollen big time !
I find a lot of blank 7.62 but I have never seen the white ones and this time there was a bit of disintegrating link (M60) and
a smoke grenade handle.
Is there a mining museum in SA ?

They stopped making this style in 1870 (English made)

I won't be attempting any rust removal ;)
