New and needing some advise

Hi, I am new to this forum and was hoping someone could give me advice on prospecting for gemstones. I live in the South East of Melbourne and want to know if anyone knows of any good local sites to start at.

There are some good books covering "Gemstones in Victoria", I have one somewhere at home it pretty much maps out all the gem locations in VIC with maps and historical finds etc. While others on the forum will be able to point you to specific local areas, I would suggest trying to find one of these books. Once you have 10 posts you can PM me if you need the details on the book I have.

Hi AtomRat! I am going out fossicking this weekend - tagging along with some people from my lapidary club- and we are heading out your way. Ive been told we are looking for quartz and topaz and cant wait! Any tips for what the area is like eg. handy things to bring?
