So mystery solved. An Instagram fellow has informed me it was used to open gates whilst on horseback in the 1800s. Would be set up like a walking stick so attached to a long stem This is a pic of his he sent me

Someone else has said it's the end of a riding whip.
Could well be a combo

Looks like a measure.... see if it measures up in any direction in particular.... then do the same for the others you've found

Recently unearthed the following part from an interlocking brass buckle from North Booval QLD.
With the Maltese Cross and style, suspect 1890s police buckle. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
