I would like to go prospecting in the snowy mountains
But most of the land is privately owned agricultural land or National Park
I however heard that there is Gold in a river near to where I was staying
but most of the river is on private land.
Is it easy to get permission from land holders?

Oh and here is my 2nd concern
If I did get permission I might find that there is a riverbank with a clay layer
which may make me want to dig into the clay layer and above and maybe I might
put that material through my sluice, and maybe I might remove enough material that there is
a noticable void from the river bank.
Wouldn't that make the farmer angry and make me not be invited back?
So how can I get gold and be invited back?
Ps I am new at this game

Simple.
1. Don't dig in the bank of the river.
2. No excessive silting of the water, Especially upstream of a pump.
3. Gold will not come to you, You must look for it yourself.
4. Respect other peoples land and treat it like your own.
5. Fill your holes in.
6. Above all, Have fun. :) :)

The way i do it is talk to the owner they love to talk about their property and what they do if offered coffee dont offend by saying no you may waste an hour chatting (the last one cost me that lol but was worth every second) and then do like a show and tell to the owner show your gear explain how it works tell them what you want to do when you find a good area
ask them to come and watch but never lie as they will find out what you have been doing and they will shut you down real quick
If a gate is shut then keep it shut if its open leave it open and the biggest ones are only leave footprints when you leave never ever leave rubbish of any kind including food scraps or smoke butts
That is what works for me hope it helps

I need to meet the station owners or managers where i go and because of ass holes leaving holes ,rubbish ,and the general area in a mess .Most owners will just say no because let one in more will follow . Most of the cattle staitions etc. Either the owner or station hands can be found on the weekend at their local pub and that is a great place to meet them and have a yarn about the property . Most bush people love to talk and its not hard to get them on to the subject of old mines on the station or if they believe there may be gold there . It may not happen on the first meet but be polite and patient and once they know u are a prospector they may invite u onto their land . The station i have spent 4 months of this year on the owner spent the first day showing me where he recon it may be
