G'day All
as an ex Council employee engaged in the front line and dealing with people on a professional basis for 40 years , one does develope a sixth sense about the motives of people, you get to understand body language , physical as well as the way people express themselves in speech speak and written communication , so TathraDJ , is absolutely correct and has a right to be peeved in trying to maintain a harmony within the forum.
I have , in my time in this forum, read some real crap particularly with the ribbing, and a bit disappointed in the behaviour of some , sometimes the so called humour has an edge.
Auctions would be a waste of time and energy on this forum, why, because you would need that many rules to cover the multitude of circumstances to avoid conflict with the sale, what's wrong with the wanted and for sale section that we have access to, keep it simple, no fuss , no possibility of grievance disputes for the moderators to resolve, and by the way the moderators have a difficult task to keep the forum running free so if you don't like what they do don't criticise them in the posts, go join NAPFA and help assist with the progression of fossicking , in particular the legal aspect , don't bitch about the rules applied to our hobby on the forum, contact your local member and give them the broadside of what your thoughts are.
The forum has a good number of people with a lot of experience to share, and a lot of ingenious deep thinkers, who in my opinion are an asset to the forum.
Tathradj has expressed his views on dealing with bureaucracy , it ain't simple to deal with people that want to dominate in their chosen profession when they don't have a clue on the basics of our hobby. As an example, I happened to discuss one of the issues that we face with some people, the issue was dredging, and what avenues are available to report illegal activities. I can not understand why there are dredges for sale in Australia when the activity is illegal. It would be like selling automatic firearms at a market fair. One person called me plastic policeman because I would report an illegal activity, but not confront the person carrying out that activity, that reporting mechanism exists within the scope of the GAME COUNCIL operation that when you book a state forest to hunt and you come across another party who are there illegally , call it in, and the Police are involved , but such is not the case within the prospecting / fossicking hobby . I have said enough , the rest and direction taken from here is up to the members of the forum.
