Monto / Cania

I am looking to heading out to this area for a look at Cania Gorge in a couple of weeks - I know there was some gold won from here in past years and thought I might swing the 5000 a bit - any advice or former experience at this location please. also I believe the old township of Cania itself is now deserted could be interesting for relics etc - any feedback appreciated. Cheers

I personally don't know the area but any old abandoned town is worth a good go. Try and get a town layout, Town Hall, General store, playgrounds etc.
Well worth a look.

The old mining township of Cannia is under water behind the Dam wall
The area around the Dam wall has produced nuggies but the area is National park

Before you hit the national parks there is a road excess to a fork in the creek which were feed by rich gold deposits...
