February 15, 2019 1.49pm Update.

Divers have joined the search for an inexperienced camper missing for 10 days after he set up a campsite near a south-east Queensland dam.

Bruce Skewes, 49, was camping at the Borumba Dam at Imbil when he went missing.

Bruce Skewes, 49, was camping alone close to the scenic lookout on Yabba Creek Road near Borumba Dam at Imbil, about 70 kilometres north of the Sunshine Coast.

Family and friends reported the Cootharaba resident missing after he had not been heard from since February 5.

Police have since found items they believe belong to the man.

man.

Detective Sergeant Rob Lowry said Mr Skewes had left his vehicle near the dam wall.

He said the vehicle was being examined while the search was ongoing.

"Our investigations to date have revealed that he is probably not an experienced bushman, so that has raised concerns," Sergeant Lowry said.

Police spent last week conducting an extensive air, land and water search in the area, involving local officers and the SES.

Police dive unit officers were called on Friday to search an area near the south of the dam wall where a man-made lean-to was found.

Sergeant Lowry said they would reassess their next step if divers found nothing in the water.

People with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 13 14 44.
