Evening friends,

I'm super new to the forum and to detecting, but i thought i'd fill you in on some exciting news!

The Sovereign XS-2 Pro that I purchased just days ago after much deliberation and study, has already reassured me that I made the right decision. Whilst I have yet to find anything of much interest or value, I did manage to find a teeeny tiny button (slightly smaller than a 5c piece) under about 7inches of dirt..

If my new (to me) Sovereign can pick that up with no problems, it will surely find me plenty of interesting little relics.. here's to hoping!

I have yet to take the beast to the beach, which i have heard is where the Sov's excel- hopefully make a trip this weekend.

While I'm here, I'd like to mention, this forum is a wealth of knowledge and you lot certainly know your stuff, so thanks for the help so far!

cheers, dig.

The Sovereign is still a very well regarded detector, despite not being a part of the Minelab catalogue for a fair while now. Good luck on the beach with the Sov, I hope you manage to snare some good finds. Also remember to post your finds when you get the chance. :)

Welcome digdigdigdigdigdig. :D

Good choice with the Soviet. Still on my list of detectors to own.

Thanks Ramjet, I'm becoming quite attached- given him a name.. Kenny.. he doesn't say much.. mostly "beeeep"

Hi there

I have recently purchased a secondhand Minelab Sovereign XS-2Pro and have been venturing out when I get a chance to learn how to detect for some coins.
I was wondering if anyone could advise of what type of Head Phones i should purchase for this detector?
It's got a 1/4" jack so I can't just plug in a set of normal Head Phones.

I was thinking of purchasing a set of Minelab UR-30 Headphones or should i just save the money and put it towatds a newer machine for when i can afford to upgrade.

Thanks

Still one of the BEST detectors EVER made :Y:
and my preference for beach hunting

Second that Sandta.

Havnt taken mine out in a while , probably should give it a run to blow out the cobwebs so to speak. Great detector.

Hey Lads

Thanks for your input much appreciated, I'll go and buy that socket adaptor now, as it's a heaps cheaper alternative, than a set of Headphones, you lads are ausome.

Danny13 - I've just finished reading the info on the links you attached, I'm quite surprised that the Minelab Soverign 20yr old technology is still highly regarded as good machine.

Sandta - I haven't used it on the beach yet, i assume i just change the sensitivity from auto to beach, not sure what the difference will be.

Is there a particular reason as to why it's such a good detector for the beach?

Thanks heaps

Thanks Jaros
Looking forward to going out and learning the art of prospecting, and hopefully being rewarded with some valuable finds.

Cheers
