I used a 12v lipo battery on my extreme with a regulator 12v to 6.6v I cannot remember how man ah I used one lot of batteries done about 4 to 5 hrs the other I think it was 7500 ah done all day.if I was doing it again I would just get a 6,6 volt lipo with large ah and just use a balance charger hope this helps regards john :Y:

you lucky man ! the old extremes are a great machine they take a bit of understanding , but once you got them worked out coupled with a good dd coil 8 inch or 15 spiral wound coil , you will get as much gold as the new digital machines .

you didnt say what voltage that battery is, but the box is most likely a regulator.
There are several lithium battery packs available nowadays that suit SD - GP series detectors, generally aim for 6.8V for your GP Extreme

That box has a safety fuse in it ,there are other battery set ups you can use, some use video recorder batteries others us a different battery .You can use a lipo battery 6.7v and 7.4 amh regards john :perfect:

Yeh ok guys and I'll still need something to plug earphone in, Cause that lil regulator thingy has the earphone jack, if I get one of them boosters with external speaker I should be sorted or I'll take it down to cairns and prospecting should lead me on the right path cheers

head phones will plug into the box or you can use a booster and plug the head phones into it . Thera was another booster that we did use on the older detectors it was a Super Sound DETacc quite a good unit

Hi guys new to the forum and to detecting. Have a old GP Extreme and wondering your thoughts on running a 12" nuggetfinder coil? Any and all help greatly appreciated.

welcome what state are you in ,i would put a ground balance button on the extreme .I used a extreme with a advantage 14x7 coil and found it very good not sure how a evo would go depending on the ground regards john :Y:

Hello all, while looking for projects to work on during these times I found my old GP Extreme. Unfortunately I can't locate the battery. Anyone have specs on how to make a battery that will work with this detector? I know it's a 6V but need pin outs and any other info that someone could supply.

Thanks!
