Yes, the coil was cleaned before using it.
I moved to another location and it worked perfectly.
Ill go back next week just to check out if it still happens

I have the same trouble with my CTX
In this one area of bushland
I've noise cancelled and everything
But still the same as soon as I walk
30m away it stops
Back again it starts, but there is no
Towers, no underground anything
Put the coil in the air and chatter
Really weird!
Doesn't do it anywhere else just
This spot
Like an X-File
Military's probably buried something
There radioactive lol

Anybody used one of these and also the 6" minelab to compare?

I got the 6" round and cant knock its performance for finding and pinpointing in very junky areas. Most areas I detect are parks full of junk and also the odd junkie. Ive also used it in some goldfields with limited success...coins and relics, no gold. I like coilteks coils but dont want to fork out for one unless it has a distinct advantage over my ml 6"/11" combo.

hey guys this may seem like a stupid question as im only a newbie when it comes to metal detecting but i noticed that if i wave the ctx up and down in mid air it makes a beep sound like when i wave down at the end of the wave it beeps and then when i wave up at the end of the wave it beeps but never inbetween .is this a sign that there could be something wrong with the detector or the coil or is this normal ?.

As a test, brush the coil on some foliage, such as small bracken, where you know there is no metal in the ground. This will hopefully show if the wiring is loose inside or not and possibly creating a signal.
A mate of mine had false signals with his ctx3030 and it was the coil. He got a new coil under warranty, and all is fine now.
If it does make noises, make a video to show the people you bought it off.

Never hurts to take it to miners den or whoever and show them anyway.

Hey , you maybe detecting micro spacecraft or suchlike.
Be careful thaitran, you never know what's out there.

Hi all!
I've been loving the CTX 3030 I've had the last few weeks. Top machine! I just find the headphones I have incredibly cumbersome each time I bend down and get up from a dig. They fall off often from the cable just being in the way.

My thought is simply that having the wireless module would be a great thing but the only place I can find to purchase it is from minersden at the ridiculous price of $275. There's no way I can justify that much money for an input!

Does anyone know of a different option? Or have a wireless module they would want to sell?

Thanks!

Hi Guys just a question.

Does anyone know where I could buy the coil connector plug thats used on the ctx coil?

Thanks in Advance.

I sent the Ctx3030 and the faulty pin pointer to Minelab Adelaide
as there was a buzzing noise at the back of the screen area.
"I use headphones all the time" and the ground here is not mineralised.
The hum is not the threshold it is a noise that comes and goes
sending the volume to unbearable levels and acts erratically
Then the buzzing noise stops and work fine, then it comes back.
using the menu has no results on volume levels when this buzzing noise occurs
It is not radio or any other interference as I have worked this area for a while now
with this Ctx and all was great, but the last 2 weeks I have found a problem.
I had unplugged the coil, but the buzzing noise was still there,
I rang Minelab today but they found no problem,
any 1 had this problem with the Ctx.?

:( :( :(

Not sure how you sent in your ctx to Minelab.

But if you went through a dealer did you by any chance demonstrate the problem?

Just a long shot can you put up a video of it on Youtube and maybe get Minelab
to view it?

Long shot are you GB by chance
The answer to that is no.
Marty.

Not sure how you sent in your ctx to Minelab.

I brought the CTX from miners den adelaide
same with the 4500 I brought years ago.
I sent it by South Australian Post to Torrensville
be repaired.

Does it happen without the headphones ?

I use the CTX with head phones on,
I had unplugged the head phones, to see and detect a bit
and it was there from when I unplugged,
There is the inability to adjust the volume while this buzzing sound
is happening.
I reset before I sent away, and it was there from startup.
Head phones plugged in or not.

Hi Cheese

Don't know where exactly you live but you can drive it right in and demonstrate the issue for them if you can?

I did this when I took my detector down there - they did a couple of quick air tests and agreed it was an issue - picked it up two days later all good - a resistor bit the dust.

I am in IT and in order to fix a problem you need to be able to replicate it. If it takes an hour before it happens then you need to tell them or they won't test it for that long.

I hope this helps you ... I know how frustrating it is to be able to show the issue on command if the issue is intermittent.

Hi Paul.
Adelaide is a full days drive for me,
But I can see that I might have to get a video of the problem,
It is such a hassle living, soooo far from the city.
