Have been looking at a few sites and the more I look the more confused I get.
I have cameras coming out my bum now...body cameras, vehicle cameras, trail cameras, drone cameras, phone cameras and Ipad cameras. I even have a fair dinkum camera type camera!

Some have GPS and others don't and some I don't know if they do or not. A few I need the info on (evidence) and some I don't want any identifying info on that could give away a location.

Is there a straight forward easy way to see what info is there and remove it if need be or do I need to download and install something?

Cheers!

You can turn GPS off in the settings of every camera I have ever used. (Canon, Nikon, GoPro, Firefly etc.)

You can even send someone to the wrong location for a bit of fun by putting some other location in.

MT - there is a range of viewers here -

You already have a link to a metadata stripper above, although the one that I use is actually an image editor that strips as well. It's this one -

Lastly, (in case this may be of use), there are programs available that will convert GPS and other lat/lon data to .KML and .KMZ files for use in Google Earth, so you can see the co-ords on your map. Some of these are downloads, others are done on-line.

I screenshot my photos before use :perfect:

thats a good idea silver if ya worried about people trying to check the location on the pic,ive got location services off on my ph but actually if you took a pic out bush do you think theres prospectors out there that would try to check the details of pics etc to find out the location,my god youd have to be a desperato.....

I use Adobe Photoshop (as an image edititor) which can also view and edit the metadata (select: File, then: File Info).
BTW, all images posted to PA have their metadata automatically deleted.

Isn`t there a law in Australia that the metadata has to be kept for at least 2 years ?

I usually do a screenshot and edit the pic for a clearer view , anyway.

That's meta data as to what naughty sites you visit etc.
The meta data on a photo is just date, camera details and sometimes where it was taken.

I saw on a forum once where a bloke posted a photo and the next minute someone posted a map with a red drawing pin.

yep used to be easy , but most sites strip it off as you post

This internet is a scary place. I once had a car for sale on ebay and a bloke rings me up to have a look at it ,but i had not put my phone number in the ad and then he says he knows where i am and wants to look at it. He ended up coming to buy the car ,but wouldn`t tell me how he knew my address or phone number. All he would say is " I have ways " .
Never sold online again.
