Maryborough, Victoria and surrounds - any luck?

Hi all, I just wanted to follow up from my weekend in Maryborough, I finally found my first piece of gold (0.24gms), not much I know but it was great to find something other than lead shot
Thank you to SteveWilko who gave his time to explain the geology of the area and what to look out for when gold detecting, I learned a lot!

Well done Nathan, I think the first piece is one of the most exciting ones of all, it brings relief and belief, and well done Steve also.

Congratulations Nathan, now you know for sure that gold is still out there and that you have the ability to find it. Better still, after meeting with Steve you've also learned that prospecting success isn't just random, there's the all important skill of 'reading the ground' that comes with experience and is the key to repeated and ongoing success.

I'm sure there's plenty more nuggets waiting for you!

The specimen in the wife hand was my best patch in Maryborough got 26+ oz on the first day. Later took out a claim and did a lot of hand digging down to 18" for a little more.
