I am a bit late to the party, but I will never go back to a manual 4wd 
I have owned nearly 10 4wds over the years and always manuals until this one, the ONLY place a manual 'might' be better is in long down hill descents, but then that's what I have brakes for.
You are taught not to use your brakes, but that's not quite right, you just need to use them properly lol
