Hi All,
I'm Mark and I live at Mango Hill near Brisbane. I am really new to metal detecting and know basically nothing, not even where to begin to look for areas to metal detect. I have always had an interest in metal detecting but am just beginning to look into buying my first metal detector. I am quickly finding out there is so many and so much information on metal detectors and will need help with buying one. I am going to have a chat soon with the staff at Minersden in Brisbane at Underwood and hopefully this will be a good place for me to start. If anyone has any other recommendations on where to begin it would be appreciated.

Mark

welcome bud, im new to it as well, depending on your budget the best buy right now is the newly re-released minelab 4500 for $3200,i cant afford it but they seem to be the ducks guts in Australia, they are a PI (pulse induction) machine, lots of vlf machines out there for under $1000 ,i have a second hand Whites gmt , but seriously saving for a whites spp (pulse induction) $1500 new,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but also really like the Nokta fors gold, which is a vlf but way better than most it seems.then at the other end are vlf's for under $700 that would be fine for relic and coin hunting, i like what i hear about the Tesoro brand, all these prices should be lower second hand of course, there are lots of other machine, this is just what i like from my researching and reading in last 3 months

Thanks Jaros and Nicko for the welcome and the information you supplied. It gives me somewhere to start. Really appreciate it.
