When to a mates place near Byron bay , with has an old mine from 100 + years ago. We have done a lot or research and mapping etc but nothing show up in the area. We do thunk it has connections to the old sand mining in the area. Following black sands.
We have been talking about putting a camera down it for years so we did.
We used a fish cam ( gives live feed HD back to screen) and also had a GOPRO set to take picks every 2 sec.
Got some great footage and 800 pics
cool so see the rare bats flying out past the camera. No dead bodies or chests of treasure , but we do think it has a side shaft off the one side at the bottom.
Now where did I put that climbing rope
I would like to get a few of you more knowable gents to cast opinions one what it is.
Anyway it goes 10+ straight in and then goes 35m straight down. Some really nice looks gravel seams or river pebble.
We did some panning near by and got some rutile and a few specs of colour there is gold there.
I will start a thread and post pics and vid When Eric ( land owner) edits them.
Also Eric just got a new detector and we spent the Arvo checking an area where his wife lost a ring 15 years ago (very special to her) we didn't find it , but did get 75 pieces of junk , nails , dog collar , horse shoe etc
Really really fun day... I sure can feel a fever coming on.

Got pretty messy, no gold or gems though. Will fix that this weekend.
