Hi, noobie here. I've been looking at an area in WA on Tenograph and it has blue pending leases. Going into the detail these have been pending for 4 years. Is this normal and how likely could they become live in the 6 months (if its possible to answer that?). I did search the forums but the long time aspect doesn't seem mentioned as most people say they convert in around 6 months?

I would say that very few convert to live in 6 months these times. Whenever we peg a lease it is almost certainly objected to by Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage. On top of that we might get objections from mining companies, Department of Environment, Department of Biodiversity the pastoralist and anybody else who wants to have a crack. Most of these objections will end up being settled in court so the time factor is unlimited. The Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage can be settled by a decent injection of hard earned dollars but some other issues are more important so have to be carefully considered.
thanks for the reply and info. Thats interesting to know. Theres a few within the larger lease that are granted as live, these are showing gold, the wider lease isn't showing anything but looking on land view I can see a lot of workings and also what appears to be a house. I'm still fiddling with Tengraph but can't work out if this Aboriginal, has a native title or pastoral - doesn't seem to show any more info than the leases.

You can gain access to "E" live Exploration leases by utilising the 40e permit system. It's an excellent service if you follow the rules because it opens up huge tracts of land for the prospector. A 40e permit costs lest than the value of one gram of gold and give you more than two months to prospect on up to about ten square miles of land.

Thanks Moneybox. I'll look into this. All the leases are E leases so that would be a bonus. I did read somewhere that you need to put a car reg on the 40e form and they can take 20 days to be approved so this might scupper things as I won't know the reg till I get there as I'm hiring a truck when I arrive and i'm only there for 20 days in total.
