The exception to that rule for me is time , if i only have a short time in an area that i may never get back to , i dig sweet tones  guilty  , if i get a nuggy then i will dig every target in a 3 to 5 meter circle then possibly return to sweet signals.

Theres alot of pieces to the puzzle to hopefully make a smart guess to what a target may be, not just audible. i often say i may never get a large nugget when skimming, but it all depends if i have time to dig all the trash or hone in on the more likely targets.

I 100% agree you cant pick a target by sound and digging every target is the right way , but somedays its just to many blows to the brain ]:D i am surprised theres not more detectors wrapped around trees

Theres a pic o the way shortly of why you dig everything. Found a couple years ago, with other dig holes within 6 inches.

this is why you dig everything. Thanks to those that dont and think they know the sounds of gold. Posted here a couple of years ago but just a friendly reminder to dig it all.

There is no sound of gold. There are a lot of posts on this and other forums where people have dug a trashy sounding target only to find a decent lump of gold. I cherry pick too and really shouldn't, I've missed gold because I do and I know that for a fact as someone else found the nug I rejected. :) :Y:

Early on in the day yep I dig every target but as the day wears on I get a little bit less methodical and tired and that's when I start cherry picking.

Dig everything.

Oh yeah, and don't get sucked in and pay for that blokes paid content site. ;)

Not high jacking this thread But Minelab Gold gave a lot of info FOR FREE including training days which I attended and all the info on this forum is invaluable to all of us not just newbies .By the way his site is not being used any longer .But as has been said you dig every target .PP

The sad thing is helpful forums like this and youtube are destroying anychance of the gold feilds lasting for the next generation , all these great tips and proving miths wrong is educating 10s of 1000s of prospectors the correct way to clean a patch out. Not to mention the advances in technology ie. Sdc , 7000, nugget finders , sadies , boosters .

I love the mateship and ease of access of information that is available these days , but the internet has made it available to 1000s who would never have figured it out and some who simply troll through without contributing and really dont deserve it.

With the dig every target idea soon we wont even get a signal to dig , i have already found a couple of public areas where i couldnt get a single beep on large surfaced areas and i usually pride myself on getting what others have missed by getting inventive :) .

Gold doesnt regrow and theres almost no new gold feilds being descovered :( , i just worry that my kids or their kids wont have a chance of a nugget :( i hope the alluival gold lasts for many many years .

Sorry if its a bit negative but its a changing world we live in and unless the tectonic plates start moving at a rate of knots i would put 10 years lifespan on detecting public areas.

I agree with you 100% Aussie farmer. I have learnt so much from the Internet but I did find gold my first time out with out any info from the Internet so I must have done something right.

One of the other problems is that many areas are restricted now there might be gold there but you can't get to it legally or as is the case often the aress that once had gold now have towns roads and residential areas sitting on them. Either that or it's so remote you'd need a chopper to get there.
It's still there though.

He also left quite a few disgruntled people in his wake too who started trying to blame this forum for his problems and the mod team here had to set them straight about him having no affiliation with this website.

There are a lot of top prospectors here who freely give great advice without trying to get paid for it. I didn't say minelab gold was a bad bloke or anything, all I said was don't get sucked in to paying for his content as it's still possible to subscribe to his paid content channel.

Making members of PA aware that his paid site is nothing to do with this one is all I wanted to do.
