I've done Hill End a few times and although I've never found more than a few flakes in the pan.....it smells of gold!
One only has to go there to see it is significantly different to most other areas. I always judge a gold area by how close it looks to Hill End.....my bet is there are 1000's of kilos of gold still uncovered in that vicinity. They have eluded us so far but I am confident of a big discovery soon.
Every several years or so someone uncovers a ridiculous find. You can quote me...someone will find a massive deposit at Hill End. So much Gold has come from the place, and yet its such a big area and there are many places that have just been left alone. One day one of the forum members may swing a detector over the "retirement nugget" or pan up the retirement sapphire. In the mean time we will have a ball camping out and enjoying the bush.
