Yeah the S series are a more powerful phone across the board , but I don't use mine for internet pretty much only as a phone , though will stream videos on you tube or FOXTEL mobile fine.

IM not a real fan of the trend of phones all of a sudden getting bigger again with the emergence of smart phones after the spent years getting smaller and smaller.

The Galaxy ACE 3 is just about the perfect size for me , fits into a pocket easily ,( with a gel cover on it ) . and does all I need it to do phone wise .

4G is starting to scroll out in a lot of places now , though it just switches back to 3G if no 4G coverage is available.

Could not agree any more with this.
I still run my Samsung Galaxy S2 4g on a prepaid.
sooo much cheaper. :D :D :D
The physical size of the phone is my big draw card.
Not to big, Not to small and it does what I want without a hitch.
Unless it gets run over.

I like my Galaxy s3, I don't do plans though, I only do $30 pre paid and have never run out of credit within the month. I always buy the phone outright.

I ran over my S3 with my Prado in the garage, I stupidly left the phone on the rear wheel while having a beer in the garage with a mate, then drove straight out and suddenly remembered where I left it, oops, though it never broke it and it still works fine....... Pretty surprised it was ok to say the least.

I buy the Galaxy ace's , my previous galaxy ace PLUS has been in the washing machine twice , and over those 2 times has had a good couple of hours soak .

First time I dried it out in a bag of rice , left on my dash in the car during the day , 2 days later was working fine.

a year later , ( about 6 weeks ago ) had a good 50 minute soak again in my work pants , thought surely this time it was stuffed , so went out next day and bought the new 4G GALAXY ACE 3 , and just threw the ACE PLUS on the bench in the kitchen .

Over the next week or 2 , was still water visible under the screen , and when put the battery in would just keep re-booting the start up screen .

a bit over 2 weeks after I gave it a 50 minute soak in cold water and washing powder (for the second time in 12 months) ,I decided to throw the battery in once more and fire it up .

AND THE FREAKING THING IS WORKING 100% FINE !!!!

The battery is fine and holds the usual charge , no water marks on the screen , touch screen works perfectly , and now has the added bonus of a nice summery breeze fragrance ;) :D

So yep Samsung is definitely my first and now only choice of phone , and the GALAXY ACE 3 4G , on sale unlocked for a paltry $149 is in my opinion the best phone on the market , their the unbreakable HILUX of the phone world.

DD, any chance of a link to the best place to buy one of these?
Would I be able to use the same sim card as my current "non smart phone" Nokia in it? I have 3G with Telsra.

Cheers,
Billy.

That is what I did with my s2. Left it on the back wheel out of the rain then reversed back over it.
I thought, Oh Crap,
Nope.
Not a mark on it.
What did happen was it was run over by a car on the road and looked like a shotgun had hit it.
All I had to do was replace the screen and strip line under the buttons but found a complete frame plus screen for $70.00.
being a Tech Head I was wrapped on how modular these phones are under the hood.
Honestly half an hour later it was back up and running.
You tube is your friend here on what to expect.
The glass is a special type called gorilla glass and the frame is durallium aluminum.
What this phone took as a beating really pleasantly surprised me.

When you get your 4g phone,
Ring them and ask to simply "Migrate" to 4g.
.
But be aware of any type of "Contract."

Thanks Tathradj,
No contracts for this black duck!
Have been with the same phone company for a lot of years so expect/demand they look after me!
To their credit (no pun intended) they have.

Cheers,
Billy.

I got my phone from K-Mart , and im guessing Big-W stock them also , I noticed the have gone back to the smaller sim card , the ace plus was the normal size .

I simply went into a Telstra shop and they got me a blank smaller simcard and exchanged my account onto it off my other simcard free of charge , the new smaller simcards come in a template which is the size of a regular simcard , so if you want to again use a phone with a larger simcard you just drop the smaller back into the larger template and put it straight into another phone.

looks like THE GOOD GUYS sell them

Telstra shops would probably sell them

Big W , Kmart , I think dick smith , google in "galaxy ace 3 for sale in Australia" and search for a relevant store local to your area.

I didn't have to do anything for 4G , it just fires up and if 4G network is present in that area in will automatically patch into it , otherwise will just run on the available 3G network , and I think it will also patch into the 2G network also if that is all that is present in the area.

Im running mine on Telstra NEXT G on prepaid .
