Many of us 'newbies' read many posts to try and work out what sort of gear we need and roughly how much is an OK market rate to pay for stuff we buy.
Some of also want to 'buy Australian' so we can support other 'diggers' in the industry.
I have just done a purchase from an Australian supplier...who advertised a product (with a brand name) then provided a good product but one (different brand name) that was $60 cheaper if I had enough smarts to buy direct from the Australian manufacturer of the substituted product.
This was a case of 'product substitution'...plain and simple.
While I could claim a refund...the cost of the gear and the 'postage' I would have to cop would make it a waste of time.
Three things I have learned from this so far ...
one... before you buy stuff from on-line Australian supplier, check out the manufacturer of the item and send an email to the on-line store to verify details of what you are getting BEFORE the purchase
two... search around on the net to find if there is an equivalent or even same product and then search the manufacturer and suppliers and price...
three...when you write to the supplier to query what has happened... ie, the rip off... expect to be ignored...as in my case...the supplier to me has gone 'silent'.
The old saying 'buyer beware' has much value.
As a newbie...another lesson learned.
