I have a slight caffeine addiction like most people and get my fix through sugar free softdrink (don't you be judgen now). Many times I've taken a sip from a bottle just purchased from a service station to discover it's off. Checking the date usually confirms one of two things, the softdrink is past it's used by date OR the softdrink is past it's use by date which has clearly been scratched off , most of the time all that remains is the year.

I usually check the use by date but forgot to this morning, the dam softdrink tasted like poo and the label once again had been scratched off. I drove back to the place of purchase, grabbed two bottles off the shelf, one that was in date and another that also had it's date scratched off. I walked up to the counter and said here's a drink I just purchased which is off and has had it's label scratched off, here's another one from the fridge which has also had it's label scratched off, and here's the one I'm taking as a replacement. My parting words were, in future I suggest you don't scratch labels off because they taste like absolute sh!t.. All the guy could do was say "OK"

I guess they think being a highway service station that people aren't going to bother returning for a $4 softdrink. Well I got news for them, you don't mess with a guy who hasn't had his caffeine yet :D

Nugget.

notify the dept of fair trading or health inspectors . they should be spanked with a roll of barbed wire for that.

my pet hate ( this week ) is people selling " Pure Australian Honey " which is at best 10 - 20 % honey mixed with sugar and water or some other extender .

there are some dirty mongrels out there

I'd like to know what you would have done if you bought a regular softdrink and got a sugar hit LOL

It's actually surprising how many places do this. I spoke to one service station operator a while back about it, and she said a lot of places do it because they are unable to return the out of date product to the supplier for reimbursement. Apparently some products they are able to claim credits on if they expire before they are sold.

It's bloody dodgy fooling customers into purchasing out of date stock :|

You probably would have seen me on the 6 o'clock news

The takeaway joints and servo's put all the old, just about out of date flavoured milk up the front of the fridge. I got into trouble for digging right down the back of the fridge to get a fresh one.
:D Mick
