Looks ok to me, did not check the pump, looks like a boat pump, I think it would need some kind of filter or put in a bucket in the river so the floaties dont get to involved in the working parts,

The HB looks good.

Just my 2c worth

Cheers, Tone

OK as clean up sluice, but wouldn't process much more than hand sieving and panning with one of several speed pans on the market.

You have to add to that price a reasonable deep cycle battery of at least 100 a/h and there's another $250. This combo would then be very heavy to cart around the stream. So at min $670 there is better options available on the market....my thoughts, ;)

Cheers Wal.

That is excactly what I was thinking Wal. You would not be able to process lot of dirt with it and still need a power source like a generator or battery. I looked at it as well but ended up buying highbanker from forum member for $600 including petrol pump, hoses etc. He even threw in petrol for the pump and a showel. :)

Bargain mate....and you'll be able to process enough for it to pay for itself quite soon. Battery powered gear is OK for a bit of fun close to the vehicle or as a concentrate sluice, but rarely do you stick with them for long. They also have very poor resale value.

Cheers Wal.

why wouldn't it be able to process a lot of material? because of the size of the high banker or because of the output of the pump?

Both. With my high banker I can dump whole bucket of material or several shovels at once. You will not be able to do that with the unit you are looking at. It will take you lot longer to process the same amount of dirt.
It has spray bars on the top and the pump will give you high pressure to wash the material fast. The more material you process, the more gold you will find. ;)

Have a look at this video of Wal Walbanker in action (link below). One of the best videos on high bankers I have seen and a fantastic design. I like that is very portable. My unit is fantastic but I could not carry everything by myself down to the river in one go. I will get a Walbanker made when I can. :)

Have to agree with Beaglboy mate.
Its really a volume game. If you do get a highbanker it has to be able to process/wash as much material as you are prepared to feed it.
You dont need to spend a huge amount of money to achieve this either. Make one or buy one of one of the forum boys [when available] and get yourself a decent pump, then your in business.
Take a look at Wals design. Ive seen it in action at GG and Tuena. Its a hungry mongrel. It will eat anything you throw at it.
My first H/Banker i built out of 2mm stainless. Damn its heavy !!!. Ally is the way to go IMO.
Just look around and take your time. All that glitters isnt gold...especially on Ebay.
Cheers

Hi gavvvvin , I hav to agree with boys it is a volume game but in my case my banker will take the material but u have to pace yourself any way because u will be buggered by the end of day unless u have help. I do think if you do a steady pace and try not too dump full buckets in at a time u will get better results. ( my opinion anyway) that's my 2 cents worth

cheers :)

Funny, having a closer look at Wals video, those army ALICE shoulder straps on it were made by me at my old business
Small world isn't it

The Hb looks ok. The pump won't do.
The forum didn't exist when I started so I made my own mistakes. I converted a river sluice to a HB & got a pump that I thought would work. It runs 1 1/2 but the flow is too low for a 300mm wide sluice. It now works well with a 2' supply. Consequently I now have 2 pumps but have since built a second 6" sluice for 1 man operation. The battery at 100ah won't run long and is almost twice the weight of a pump.

For the money, I would build a Walbanker & run an 1 1/2 ebay pump which you should be able to pick up for less than a battery. (200ltr +)

These guys are point you in a good direction. Make everything as easy as possible so you're not reluctant to use your gear.

ive seen one of those setups down at slatey the bloke running ut was hand classifying then feeding into the highbanker, kind of defeats the purpose really like the boys said its a numbers game in the end

depends on the setup mate. in theory the longer the sluice the more time your gold has to drop out however only if your setup is designed well. generally longer mwans less cleanout longer processing time

Where does the material that doesn't fit through the grizzly (I think I'm using the right lingo here lol) go???

Good point they usually have a shoot out the back, I didn't notice it on that one. best bet is build your own, I got mine fabricated and just bolted it together at home, all up with the pump and hoses I did it under $500. here is a video of it in action. https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2464, I am about to build another but I am going to go bars not slots in the new one and lighten it up a bit.

I think you are referring to the second one. Some high bankers have a hopper (the shute where you shovel material to) thats on hinges and you just tip it out.
