Hi everyone. New to prospecting, (other than old bottles). I saw a friend recently after many years. She and her partner started prospecting about 12 mnths ago and are hooked. I've other mates who dig for opal, and too are avid prospectors. Ive decided it's time to have a serious crack.
My partner and I are always out camping on the wk ends. We generally go wherever there's water, throw in the kayak (incidently, it has a 3.5 hp outboard!) my idea of serene paddling came to an abrupt halt. He's always trying to build a better mouse trap! Anyhoo, point being we are always out and about, we get off road, and have a capable vehicle for the application. Makes sense to just start digging, right? Any info re: links to research on our region, tips and hints on what to look for to determine possibilities would be great thanks! Also what a base introduction kit would generally consist of, and where to access. Cheers, head down, bum up.

Welcome aboard Suze, sounds like you are probably already visiting the right sort of areas. Which general area are you in and which areas do you visit? There are numerous places all over Australia for Gold or Gemstones.

Welcome to the forum Suze!

Have a good stroll around the place reading, plenty of helpful advice on areas to try and information on equipment here!

Warning: Once your both bitten by the gold bug and test positive, the Kayak will be staying on the roof racks unless your hunting for spots to prospect on the river. ;)

Have fun and hope you enjoy this great hobby.

Cheers
