Hi everyone, My name is mike. I am about to take kids of first gold hunt. Starting north qld, around Gayndah.
Ive never prospected before, although we do camp a lot. We live in Shorncliffe northern Brisbane area.
Now don't laugh, but we are starting with the humble pan each, and a very cheap minelab60.
If anyone has a small tip to where we can pan and may be get a little alluvial colour from Gayndah heading south that would
be much appreciated. golly gee we would even like a bit of fools gold, the kids would fall for it haha

G'day mike and welcome to the site , I don't live up your way so can't help with places to go but I'm sure it won't be long till other members give you a chop out ! It's good to hear you and the family getting out and enjoying the great outdoors as I recon not enough of our kids get out and enjoy what the outdoors has to offer . Really hope you find some gold on your trip !

find add layers... type in abandoned mines

add another layer... watercourse

and pic a spot anywhere that suits.

I'm just as new as you are but found a youtube film on how to find a prospecting location and this is pretty cool
