Intro and thanks

Hi,

Location: Upper Hunter Valley NSW
I have always been interested in rocks and minerals from a young age. This was rekindled last year with a quick trip to the Nundle fair and a $5 tub of dirt, yes gold fever got hold. A mate of mine has a Uncle at Wattle Flat so a couple of quick lessons there and was gold in the pan.
So I searched the internet, sutdied You Tube and found Prospecting Australia. Thanks for the info and a special thanks to Wal and his info re the High banker sluice. The video he and Liz put together on fossicking has been a great help. I have made a hybrid sluice which can be river or High banker. I gave the river version a run last sunday up at Nundle with pleasing results, so thanks and looking foward to future posts.

Welcome IND59. I like Nundle myself even if the Peel is all but out for us now. Still plenty of State Forests around Hanging Rock area to get into.

What is the story with the Peel? Thats where I went! Is it off limits? There where plenty signs of fossicking activity and the time before last a bit congested

I'm trying to find an answer for you, not having the best luck though. Someone will have an answer shortly.

I don't know if its to do with some angry bloke or if the peel river is not open to prospecting. Could even have to do with the fishing clubs, but I'm struggling to search the answer
