Used to do the same with the air pellets, to hard and slow to get out of the pocket. Still got a slug gun, put a hole in a 20 lt bucket at 10 paces.

I bought a sluggy 2 yrs ago to make up for not having one as a kid was given a 22lr to use instead , the sluggy has a 10 shot mag and shoots at 1100 ft per second , shoots holes in corrigated iron and zincalume at about 20 mtrs. Crazy power for a sluggy .

Same situation Aussie . Never had a sluggy as a kid but always wanted one so I got one a couple of years ago too. Same deal the 22 was my first gun and although I decimated the rabbit population I still wanted one for around the house.

A drop of light oil in the back of the pellet really hots em up to I've found. Not good for the gun or accuracy but gets em really humming.
