I was told that gold could be found on the beach at Doctors Rocks, Tasmania.
I thought it was a joke but went there anyway. And yes indeed, I found some small flecks, about as much as I found at Yackadandah the other week.
Still, it felt like an unusual setting and a good bit of fun.

Part of the fun is the challenge. The fact you actually found some is great. I have been reading about odd places they found traces of gold in SA. Might have to go and see for myself. If I was in Tassie the sand near Cygnet could be interesting.

The lack of coastal gold deposits in Victoria is because the gold bearing rocks which extend through the width of Victoria North to South, are covered by younger rocks (lavas or the Otway sandstones) in the South and do not outcrop on the coast to form beach deposits.
But the Lachlan orogeny (plate collision and mountain building event) which formed Victoria's gold bearing rocks extends from NSW through Victoria and into Tasmania.
If Tasmania's orogenic gold enriched rocks outcrop at the coast there would be no reason not to expect beach gold deposits.
I have just returned from visiting my daughter in Foster, near Wilsons Promontory, where alluvial deposits, possibly of beach origin formed when pre ice age sea levels were much higher. These were worked leading to the discovery of a gold bearing dyke now in the middle of town.
Cape Liptrap in Victoria is an outcrop of very old rocks also on Victoria's South Gippsland coast and gold has been reported on the beach there.
